Overview
We keep it simple.
Rhy Journal ("Rhy", "we", "us") is a couples daily photo journal. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how we protect it. We don't run ads, we don't sell your data, and your memories belong to you.
By using Rhy, you agree to this policy.
Data We Collect
What we collect and why.
We collect the following data to make the app work:
Account information — your name, email address, and authentication identifiers, collected when you sign in with Apple, Google, or email/password. Used to create and manage your account.
Profile details — optional details you add in-app (for example birthday, relationship status, and relationship dates), used to personalize your journal experience.
Photos — photos you capture or select are uploaded to Firebase Storage to create your shared journal memories.
Captions and notes — text you write alongside your memories, stored in Firebase Firestore.
Location — precise GPS coordinates when you choose to tag a memory with a location. Used to reverse-geocode a place name and display your memories on the map. Location is always optional.
Notification preferences — your reminder settings (like daily reminder time), used to schedule local notifications on your device.
Purchase history — if you purchase or restore Rhy Fam, transaction and entitlement status are processed by RevenueCat and the App Store to manage premium access.
Usage metadata — limited account and app metadata (for example timestamps like created/updated/last active) used to keep your account in sync and support core app functionality.
Third-Party Services
Who else sees your data.
We use the following third-party services to run Rhy. Each has its own privacy policy.
We do not use advertising networks, analytics brokers, or any other third-party services beyond those listed above. Your data is never sold or shared for advertising purposes.
Your Memories
Your content belongs to you.
Photos, captions, and location data you add to Rhy are yours. We store them on your behalf to power the journal — we don't analyze them, train models on them, or share them with anyone other than your connected partner.
Your partner can see memories you add to your shared journal. That's the whole point. No one else can.
Data Retention & Deletion
You're in control.
Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. You can:
Delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete Account. This permanently removes your account access and profile record from active use.
Leave your shared journal from Settings → Leave Journal. Shared journal memories remain available to your partner; your account is removed from that couple.
Account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. Because journals are shared, export any memories you want to keep before deleting or leaving.
Children's Privacy
Rhy is not for children.
Rhy is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.
Changes to This Policy
We'll let you know if things change.
If we make material changes to this privacy policy, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of Rhy after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
